How Covid-19 has affected the environment?
Hello everyone its Norah and today I will be telling you how Covid-19 has affected the environment.
There are quite a few positives and surprisingly a few negatives lets have a deeper look.
Positives:
Reduced amount of greenhouse gases- Not many people have to travel apart from key workers of course so the amount of cars driving and airplanes flying is less. Transport makes up a quarter of carbon emissions so it is good for the environment. Also in Europe the amount of acid rain has faded away, in New York the carbon emissions have fallen by 10% and in China 25%. Factories have closed down so the oil industry has too. This means 10% of oil consumption all over the world is no gone. Many countries have much cleaner air than before now. Also air quality has improved and there is not a lot of noise pollution but that doesn't mean when life is normal again things will stay the same...….

Negatives:
Scientists think that when things will become normal again the pollution drop will only be 0.3% sadly. Also Covid-19 has seen that there has been a drop in recycling nd not many people recycle anymore. Loads of masks, gloves and things that are not reusable have been seen lying around on the street. You should be using cloth masks which you can make yourself or buy. Moreover many people cannot gather to do big social climate protests and some huge meetings about Climate Change have been either postponed or even canceled. Furthermore scientists cannot go outside because of lockdowns and study the planet which might have told us more about animals and climate change.
I hope you enjoyed reading and now you can start recycling and walking more!
