Plastic in the ocean is a BIG problem in the WORLD not only in the United Kingdom.100 MILLION MARINE ANIMALS ARE KILLED EACH YEAR maybe because 11 million tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean every year killing lots of animlas as they cannot recognise what this strange material is. Here is some Climate Change News.

IMPORTANT NEWS

The amount of plastic on the Earth may reach 1.3 BILLION by 2040.This is HORRIBLE as this might lead  to polar bears being WIPED OUT by the END OF THIS CENTURY.There might be lots of plastic in the Earth and Seas mainly right now beacuse more plastic has been used since the start of lockdown.The plastic that has been used right now is things like masks and PLASTIC gloves. The plastic would cover the United Kingdom by 1.5 TIMES.This would be like seeing plastic everywhere:on the road,sea,beach,amusment parks and MUCH more.As i said before the amount of plastic entering the ocean is 11 million tonnes per year this has increased by A LOT.The amount of plastic entering our ocean used to be 8.8 million tonnes now it is 11 million tonnes.If we do not take action that number could maybe even triple to 29 MILLION by the end of 2040.

As i said before polar bears might be wiped out until the end of the century and some species of poar bears may be extinct alreday.The polar bears are having to travel lond distances to find food as the ice is melting and polar bears cannot hunt.Here is some more information about them on newsround-Polar bears may be WIPED OUT.

Here are some ways to travel better to help reduce your carbon footprint:

If your school is nearby you could:

• walk
• Scooter
• ride your bicycle
• run
• jog

If your school is faraway you could:

When you go by car then maybe you could put the speed on its lowest point as that will also reduce your carbon footprint or take a lift.
